Abstract
Off-axis holographic was applied in the study focusing on the structure and droplets sizes and spatial distributions of water jets injected into a Ma=2 crossflow. The instantaneous structures of the jet, including surface waves in the near-injector region, bow shock waves, small droplets from the jet surface and ligaments, were visualized clearly. Spray droplets SMD and number density distributions in space were given, the measured SMD is about 8~9μm at x/d>40 and as the spray moves downstream, droplets size and distribution approaches a uniform distribution. The very complex flow physics relevant to the above process and others affect the injection and atomization which is a foundation of scramjet combustion process of liquid jet in a supersonic crossflow.
