Abstract
In order to improve the safety and stability of mechanical equipment, the structural design of mechanical products is becoming increasingly important. The design of key parts under heavy load is crucial, as the failure of such parts can lead to safety accidents and even casualties. Traditional mechanical testing methods for prototypes are time-consuming and expensive, making it difficult to meet the demands of high-quality and fast design. To address this issue, the development of Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) technology has facilitated the design and optimization of complex mechanical structures. In this study, we use the finite element modeling and simulation method to analyze the mechanical properties of a forklift manipulator and drive shaft. A 3D model is built based on Abaqus software and simulated on a server. The simulation results provide theoretical and data support for the improvement of mechanical structure. The results show that the maximum Mises stress decreases from 513.5 MPa to 122.5 MPa, which meets the design requirements. Compared with the original structure, the improved manipulator can withstand three times of the load within the allowable stress range. Our research shows that finite element modeling and simulation can provide valuable insights and data to support the improvement of mechanical design.
