Abstract
A set of experimental devices for measuring the concentration of transparent liquids is designed based on Mach-Zehnder interferometer. A unique three-slot double wedge sample cell is designed and fabricated. The interference fringes formed by the beam passing through the measuring solution and the standard solution were collected and processed by computer vision. The concentration of the solution is obtained by comparing the fringes spacing obtained from each side of the sample cell. In this designment, the factors such as the wedge angle introduced by the Mach-Zehnder interferometer itself and the wedge angle introduced by the windows can be naturally eliminated. The sources of the measurement errors are analyzed, and the methods for improving the accuracy are proposed. This work provides a convenient method for measuring the refractive index and concentration of transparent solutions.
