Abstract
Many industrial components have an unfolded structure that can form a large area of flat or bowl-shaped surfaces. These surfaces are challenging to measure accurately. Catadioptric omnidirectional vision methods, owing to their wide field of view, have emerged as viable solutions for large-scale surface 3D measurement tasks. Addressing the issue of non-stitching measurement, a compact and efficient omnidirectional vision-based method using hexagonal pyramid mirrors is proposed. Mirrors are employed to reflect images from the 360° environment into the camera. Internal and external parameters of the omnidirectional vision sensor are calibrated using a laser tracker. The proposed method enables 360° omnidirectional measurement to be completed after a single imaging, showing advantages such as high accuracy, fast speed, and compact size. Its instantaneous imaging feature enables its application in dynamic surface 3D measurement. Measurement experiments are conducted on large-scale surfaces, ultimately obtaining the 3D coordinates of the mark points on the surface. The calculation results can be used for flatness measurement and profile evaluation, demonstrating the feasibility of the proposed omnidirectional vision sensor for high-precision 3D measurement.
