Abstract
The problems of utilization of the Chinese residue theorem(CRT) for image coding in the systems of image registration, storage, processing, and translation are touched upon. The number-theoretic algorithms using the CRT permit the digital image structure to be adapted to parameters of the iconic systems. The image transformation based on CRT is isomorphic with respect to the linear operators. Classical number-theoretic coding on the base of number and polynomial residues does not allow to realize the whole possibilities of iconic systems. The new method of image coding, based on nonclassical CRT utilization is suggested. This method allows one to use the speed of response and accuracy of the iconic systems more successfully. The main factors restricting the possibilities of the method are analyzed.
