Abstract
Superposition of deformed grating gives us a moire pattern corresponding to a new type Fresnel zone plate(FZP). We can design the FZP so that its focal length is changed by shifting or rotating gratings each other. This idea has been described by Lohmann.1'2 Recently, optical performance of the variable focal length FZP has been discussed by Jaroszewicz3 and4 Toyohara et al. In the present paper, it is shown that moire patterns obtained by mutual shift or rotation of two appropriate gratings are able to control five kinds of Seidel aberrations and also defocus and tilt terms. Variable aberration effects are verified by using point spread functions. We design a kinoform version of the gratings and their point spread functions are calculated. Quantization error is estimated in terms of the Strehl definition. Alignment error of superposition of two gratings is also discussed by using computer simulation.
