Abstract
An interference filter was realized in LiNbO3 by the formation of a holographic interference pattern inside the photorefractive material. Heating the crystal during the writing process leads to a complementary ionic grating which subsequently is developed by incoherent illumination of the crystal and which is stable at room temperature. The device acts as a band stop filter and exhibits a subnanometric bandwidth in the visible region.
