30 September 1996 1059- and 1328-nm LD-pumped Nd:S-FAP solid state laser

Abstract
In this paper we introduce a new laser crystal -Nd3+:Sr5(PO4)3F, Nd:S-FAP, and present its optical and physical characteristics. Based on the experiment lasing performance of CW LD pumped Nd:S-FAP crystal is reported here: the threshold and slope efficiency of 1059 nm Nd:S-FAP laser pumped by CW LD at 805 nm are 7 mW and 41%, and that of 1328 nm Nd:S-FAP laser are 19 mW and 35%. The comparison between experimental result and theoretical calculation is also discussed in this paper.
