Abstract
The use of second-harmonic generation (SHG) as the nonlinearity in the technique of frequency-resolved optical gating (FROG) for measuring the full intensity and phase evolution of an ultrashort pulse is discussed in this paper. Both the error-reduction algorithm and Gerchberge-Saxton algorithm are studied. We conclude that SHG FROG should be a very useful tool for measurement of ultrashort pulses.
