Abstract
We made a computation model which calculates the relation between edge position shifts before and after applying limit equalizers. In this computation model, we assumed offset noise around the edge position to be the origin of edge position shift. We classified the performance of limit equalizers on edge position shift according to the combinations of the lengths of the neighboring land and pit. Applying this computation model to these cases, we conclude that the limit equalizer achieves drastic improvement of 3T error rate without deteriorating the error rates from 5T or longer marks. We made an experimental setup to measure error rate and jitter for each case, and we confirmed the results of the analysis experimentally.
