Abstract
In this work we present a complete set of tests for the precise alignment of a convergent optical correlator. The alignment tests include the fine focusing of the input scene Fourier transform on the filter plane, the filter centering, the scaling of the scene Fourier transform to match the filter size, and the azimuth matching between the scene and the filter. These tests are based on spatial frequency filtering properties. We present the theoretical explanation and experimental results obtained during the alignment procedure.
