Abstract
We study the sensitivity of the method for determining the motion parameters of a planar surface, having known orientation, directly from image gradient measurements. A bidirectional sinusoidal texture is assumed, to which Gaussian noise is added. The distribution of the errors in estimates of the motion parameters as a function of signal to noise ratio, notion parameters, parameters of the plane, texture frequency and the field of view is determined. Finally, we present the results of simulations with synthetic data as well as with real images of a sinusoidally textured planar scene.
