Abstract
When Nobel laureate Herbert Kroemer coined the phrase “the interface is the device”, he referred to the devices based on thin semiconductor films. In this talk, I will describe how interfaces between several topological crystals can be used for developing a wide range of devices: from cavities with “sticky” mirrors that can localize light, to interferometric devices that can be used as compact reflectionless beam-splitters. Examples of interface-based devices operating across the electromagnetic spectrum will be presented, and future direction will be discussed.
