Abstract
Coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering (CARS) has become a very powerful tool in the measurement of temperature and concentrations in practical combustion environments. The technique is also proving to be useful in the study of other types of reactive media including plasmas, photodissociation studies, and excited-state relaxations. This paper reviews several research areas involving reactive or transient species where the spectral and temporal properties of CARS have been exploited.
