Users with administrative rights can access the Institutional Administration dashboard by logging in to the SPIE Digital Library with their personal user account, then navigating to My Account > Institutional Administration. There, administrators can view their account and subscription information, access usage statistics, and review any access suspensions. Please email email@example.com to make the following changes:
- Update IP addresses
- Add administrative rights to a user account
- If you have misplaced the username of a user account with administrative rights
When a user's IP is affiliated with a subscribing institution, the institutional name and logo appears in an "Access Provided By" popup that can then be closed by the user. Logos have a minimum size requirement of 145 px X 75 px and minimum dpi of 72. Administrative contacts can send the logo to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Users with administrative rights can download usage statistics in COUNTER format, and access SUSHI credentials necessary for automated statistical harvesting, by signing in to the SPIE Digital Library using their personal user account, then navigating to My Account > Institutional Administration > COUNTER Reports. The SPIE Digital Library supports both outbound and inbound OpenURL linking.
When outbound OpenURL linking is configured, the References tab of an article or chapter will include links that take the user to your link resolver's result pages for the references being cited. To set up outbound linking, email email@example.com and provide the link resolver's base URL, the link text, and the image (maximum image dimensions are 150px wide x 30px high, and the maximum file size is 5KB.)
Inbound OpenURL linking is supported at the journal article, proceeding article, and book chapter level. SPIE works directly with link resolver vendors to provide them with metadata for the resources in the SPIE Digital Library.

Remote Access Methods
Affiliated User Accounts
A user at a subscribing institution can affiliate their personal account with the institutional subscription in order to use the SPIE Digital Library remotely (for example, from a home computer or mobile phone). To do so, the user should simply create a personal account or sign in to an existing one while on a computer within the institution's IP range (for example, from a desktop computer at work or school). This automatically affiliates the personal account with the institutional subscription for a period of three months. After this, the user can again login while onsite at the institution to renew the affiliation.

SPIE also provides web-based training for subscribing institutions for up to 100 participants. Typically, these sessions take 30-45 minutes and are informal, interactive, and customized to the institution's interests. An additional 15 minutes is reserved at the end for questions.
