Profile Summary

Prof. Yi-Hsin Lin received her BS degree in physics from National Tsing Hua University (Taiwan) in 1998, MS in Institute of Electro-Optical Engineering of National Chiao Tung University (NCTU, Taiwan) in 2000, and Ph.D. in Optics from CREOL: The College of Optics and Photonics, University of Central Florida in 2006. After graduation, she joined the Department of Photonics, NCTU as an assistant professor in 2006 and promoted as a full professor in 2015. She was vice chair in EECS Undergraduate Honors Program, NCTU during 2017-2019. Prof. Lin is vice chair in Tin Ka Ping Photonics Center, NCTU since 2017. Since 2019, she is vice president of Taiwan Local Section of OSA and board member in Taiwan Photonic Society(TPS). She is a board member in Taiwan Liquid Crystal Society since 2007. In addition, she is also an associate editor of OSA’s Optics Express since 2016 and the Lead Guest Editor in Feature Issue of Optics Express: Liquid Crystal Beyond Displays in 2019. She was also invited to join editorial board in SPIE Journal of Optical Microsystems in 2021, Liquid Crystals Reviews since 2016 and Scientific Reports since 2018. Prof. Lin was elected as OSA fellow in 2021 for her pioneering contributions in LC lenses. In addition, Prof. Lin received many awards, such as Facebook Distinguished Faculty Award in 2020, Technology Contribution Award from TPS in 2020, Google University Research Award in 2018, and Young Investigator Award in Photonic Engineering from TPS in 2015. The research interests of Prof. Lin are in LC-based optical devices and explore all the possibility of applications using liquid crystals. Besides, Prof. Lin organized the first OSA-sponsored event “Women in Optics in Taiwan” in 2019 to connect all female professionals and make effort for realizing regular event of “Women in Optics in Taiwan”.
