Abstract

The adequacy of an image's quality is determined by the user judgment of how well it does its job. Therefore, image quantity from a user's standpoint is a subjective parameter which is dependent on the image's application. Different users have developed different subjective image quantity measures and, in many cases, related these to physical measures. This paper is a general discussion of some of the ways image quantity is determined and mea sured by different image users.
