Abstract
New algorithm for light scattering by concave ice crystals was developed. It is based on the beam-splitting algorithm for convex type of crystals that was developed in IAO RAS. For implementation of this algorithm the program for calculation of the light scattering matrices was created. The results of test calculations that were carried out within the geometrical optics (GO) approximation show good agreement with the ray-tracing algorithm. The light scattering diagram for hollow columns with various cavity angles within the GO approximation and the dependence of M11 element of scattering matrix on zenith angle for various angle of crystal cavity within physical (PO) approximation were received.
