Abstract
An algorithm is proposed for the fast Fresnel transform, for problems of propagation of an electromagnetic signal in free space, suitable for both modeling FSO problems of optical communication technology and holography. The algorithm is based on reducing the number of repetitive computations of the elements of the transform kernel based on the use of different types of symmetries when calculating the corresponding transform kernels. It is shown that the proportion of unique Fresnel transform kernels is much less than the total number and even less than in the Fourier transform.
