Abstract
Next-generation datacenters must address specific space requirements imposed by the tight packing of processing units employing a high-capacity optical network with minimum footprint. We evaluate up to 400G transmission with four multiplexed PAM4 channels considering different carrier separation and optical filter BW to isolate each line of an optical comb. MCF media is proposed to reduce the footprint. The expected MCF crosstalk is calculated for different number of cores, core pitch and lengths. The resulting BER for different OSNR is also analyzed. The suitability of using two comb lines for sub-THz upconversion with optical heterodyning is confirmed by simulation and experimentally.
