Abstract
Turnout identification can assist trains in positioning and improve the train's track occupancy identification capability. Even if the Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) is unavailable or interfered, it is possible to achieve track selective positioning. This paper uses the branching direction detection method to identify the three-way turnout on the basis of the single turnout identification. The turnout data is measured by using LiDAR. The method is validated by using track data detected on the railway. Experiment results show that the method proposed in this paper is effective to identify three-way turnout.
