Abstract
The classic Buffon’s needle question, throws the needle in a plane that is filled with parallel lines, so the researcher considers if there are more kinds of parallel lines put into the plane would increase the accuracy. Based on the Buffon's needle problem, the mathematical laws and results are obtained by casting the needle, not only in parallel lines, but also in regular triangles which represent three kinds of parallel lines. The derived laws and results are applied to estimate the value of π . By comparing the result’s variance, the result shows that the more kinds of parallel lines filled in a plane, the more accurate result would be driven from the experiment. Moreover, the scope of application of Monte Carlo simulation which is derived from the Buffon's needle problem is analyzed in the article.
