Abstract
As the data being presented to us by computers becomes more complex, the problem of being able to extract meaning becomes increasingly difficult It is argued that some of this difficulty can be reduced by not relying solely on the visual channel for data presentation. It is argued that the use of nonspeech audio cues as a means of data presentation can significantly augment the communication of meaningful information.
