Abstract
I summarize the recent progresses in laser cavity design, mainly applied to high power, pulsed solid-state laser systems. Evaluation criteria of laser cavities are considered and the main project tools as available today are reviewed. Emphasis is given on the use of unstable resonators, with and without variable reflectivity mirror outcoupling.
