Abstract
Seasonal and average daily variations in the density of lightning discharges were found by the WWLLN data in the assumed zones of 5 × 10° in latitude and longitude within the area of 55–90° N, 105–155° E (the increment of 0.2°). The distribution of the lightning density is characterized by a linear decrease with increasing latitude, however, in recent years, thunderstorms have also been observed over the Laptev Sea. The intensity of lightning activity east to the Verkhoyansk Ridge has been increasing since 2014 and was weakly related to the activity in the central parts of the considered area.
