Abstract
To solve the research requirement that optical data is difficult to meet the temporal classification, the advantages of radar data images are brought into play to accurately and effectively count the winter wheat planting information. Taking dualpolarized Sentinel-1A SAR as the data source, a spatial distribution extraction method of winter wheat with joint SAR backscattering features and Polarization decomposition features was constructed. Support vector machine, random forest and artificial neural network classifier were used to obtain the extraction result map and accuracy of winter wheat in the study area. The differences in the extracted winter wheat planted area using the joint feature SAR datasets of different growing periods of winter wheat and the relative errors with the official statistics were compared. The results show as follows: 1) The accuracy of winter wheat extraction from time-series SAR joint feature data is better using RF classifier, and the accuracy of producer and user reaches 95.25% and 93.29%, respectively. 2) By comparing the time series SAR data of different growth periods to extract winter wheat results, it is found that the extraction result of winter wheat using the SAR dataset at tassel stage is the closest to those of the complete growth period, which provides basic data for developing winter wheat planting area and estimating yield before immature winter wheat.
