Abstract
Pure hydroxyapatite (HAp) nanorods have been synthesized successfully by coprecipitation method with only three requisite cheap reactants. The product was characterized by XRD, FTIR and SEM. The adsorption performances of HAp nanorods were performed by measuring the removal of Direct Red 28 (DR 28) in water solution with a serials of adsorption tests, and the adsorption isotherms were also studied. The results showed that the solution pH, contact time and initial concentration of dye solution played critical roles in adsorption of DR 28 onto HAp nanorods. Furthermore, the maximum adsorption capacity was calculated to be 166.94 mg/g, suggesting that the HAp nanorods demonstrated strong ability to remove DR 28 from aqueous solution.
