Abstract
The well consolidated technology developed by AdOptica for large, contactless deformable mirrors is now being evolved to higher actuator density and low power consumption. In this paper we present the simulation of the performances of an 800mm deformable mirror with 2172 actuators and the 246mm diameter prototype with 169 actuators, currently in construction. The proposed design features low power dissipation and all the major characteristics our baseline technology, including the large stroke also in tip-tilt and piston, the high static accuracy and the capability to operate with several failed actuators. Typical applications include daytime turbulence compensation with field stabilization and large post focal deformable mirrors for high order correction.
