Abstract
A water balance equation is used to calculate the water conservation capacity of Hehuang Valley, and ArcGIS analysis is carried out. The functional divisions of regional water conservation are divided comprehensively with the distribution of natural reserves (national nature reserves, national parks, and water sources). The results show that the areas of Lenglongling and Daban mountains in the northern Qilian Mountains are the most critical areas for water conservation, accounting for 25% of the total area, and the areas of general and medium important are mainly distributed in the middle and small rolling mountains, accounting for 66.3% of the total area; the areas of unimportant water conservation are concentrated in Huangshui and Yellow River Valley, where human activities are the most concentrated, accounting for 8.7% of the area.
