Abstract
Economic conversion is the process of transforming defense industries to commercial purposes. This paper presents the case for the necessity of conversion and discusses particular strategies for accomplishing it. Some opportunities for conversion of military technologies to medical imaging are identified, and a six-step plan is offered for defense contractors contemplating conversion.
