Abstract
There are two major issues which would be raised during the panel discussion: 1. There is a need to develop a computerized image analysis system to help physcians making decisions about the biopsy recommendation based on certain mammographic signs. The computerized analysis must be compared with the ROC analysis of best experts and trained to perform as good as human experts or better, if possible. Various types of presentations of computer generated analysis/images from original digital mammograms should be tested to search for the better form of presentation of data to the physician to help making correct decisions about the biopsy recommendation. 2. To make the computer system versatile performing at the best level, it is essential that a large database of critical as well as nominal mammographic cases should be developed and presented to a group of best experts for ROC analysis. Such an analysis will serve as a gold standard for the performance evaluation and comparison of the individual computer systems.
