Abstract
Direst to plate imaging is rapidly becoming a reality. Plates, processors and imagesetters are becoming increasingly available. There are practical considerations in making direct to plate an effective solution. Such a system is not simply a film image onto a different medium. PostScript must be athpted in a more Critical factor. Process control must be provided for.. Plates themselves are an emerging commodity with a variety of characteristics. The plate handling has its own problems. This paper explores these and other problems and some of their solutions
