Abstract
We present a 1 to 64 opto-electronic demultiplexer, in which the routing of the time sequential optical input data is determined by a header address coded in the same input beam. The optical implementation involves a 8x8 array of Multiple Quantum Well light modulators (electronically addressed SLM) imaged onto an MQW Optical Bistable Device. We use classical and diffractive free-space optics to realise the necessary imaging and beam multiplying functions. A presentation of the operation principle, the device characteristics and the optical implementation will be made. Key Words: Optical Logic, Photonic Switching, Spatial Light Modulators, Optical Bistable Devices
