Abstract
In recent years, the concept of fractal geometry introduced by Mandelbrot has been employed in many fields of natural science'. In the field of optics, an influence of the fractal nature was shown to appear in the Fraunhofer diffraction region for random fractal objects as the power-law intensity distribution, and for regular fractal objects as the self-similar or scaling intensity distribution2'3. The self-similar property of a moderate degree was found also in the Fresnel diffraction region produced by self-similar objects4. In this paper, a different kind of the scaling property of Fresnel diffraction patterns produced by self-similar fractal apertures are discussed in comparison with the self-similarity shown in the previous paper4.
