Abstract
In this paper we present a dynamic add and drop system for dense wavelength division multiplexing based on a set of cascaded fiber Bragg gratings controlled by an electric signal. The band pass between adjacent gratings is suppressed by chirping a grating with a magnetic field through a magnetostrictive transducer. It is experimentally demonstrated that a channel of 0.8mm bandwidth can be switched in 0.35ms time.
