Abstract
The projection-slice synthetic discriminant function filter (PSDF) synthesis is discussed with consideration of individual projection energy in order to improve the performance of the filter. This improvement is made relative to the normal PSDF filter and the basic synthetic discriminant function filter. The results of application of these new techniques to the processing of real data is reported and evaluated using accepted metrics such as the Fisher discrimination metric.
