Abstract
Smart structures and MEMS have a great potential for strategic and commercial exploitation. India, with its continued emphasis on science and technology, has made forays into this exciting area with well-planned, compact national programmes aimed at technology and systems development. This paper presents the fruits of these national initiatives.
