Abstract
The fraction of surface covered by green vegetation is an essential biophysical parameter for addressing land surface processes in the terrestrial climate system. This parameter has been used in many agronomic, ecological and meteorological applications, e.g. for modelling weather predictions, estimation of urban vegetation abundance, etc. In this work, we collect several measures of vegetal cover indexes and relate them to the reflected light signal. The aim is to estimate vegetal cover from hyperspectral images using Support Vector Machine regression of vegetal cover in which every pixel represents an index of this measure from hyperspectral data.
