An overview of selected results on jet physics in heavy-ion collisions from the Compact Muon Solenoid experiment
at the LHC accelerator is presented. The results were obtained for lead-lead, proton-lead and proton-proton
collisions collected in the years 2010 - 2013. The jet-quenching phenomenon was studied by looking at the
production of so-called “hard probes”, that is high transverse momentum charged particles, prompt photons, Z
and W bosons, and jets.
