Abstract
H.264/AVC is the video coding standard with the highest coding efficiency, and its use has increased in various applications, such as digital multimedia broadcasting. We propose an effective method for recovering video data when the H.264/AVC-coded bit stream is corrupted. This method uses an affine transformation and cost criteria based on an overlapping boundary-matching algorithm and adaptively applies concealment methods. The proposed method also divides a corrupted macroblock into eight triangular regions and then conceals the macroblock by units of each partial region. The simulation results show that the proposed method yields a video quality that is objectively and subjectively superior to those produced using conventional approaches.
