Inmaculada Pascual was born in Elche (Spain) in 1962. She received her MSc degree in Physics from the University of Granada in 1985 and her PhD degree in Physics from the University of Valencia in 1990. In 1986 she joined the Optics Department at the University of Alicante and in 2000 she was appointed Full Professor of Optics in the Department of Optics at the University of Alicante. From 1990 to 1991 she was the Secretary of the Department of Optics and from 1991 to 1994, the Secretary of the School of Optics. Since 2005 she is Director of the Department of Optics, Pharmacology and Anatomy at the University of Alicante, Spain.
She has carried out research in the fields of holography, mainly on holographic recording material, holographic optical elements, optical data processing and storage, and visual optics, mainly in intraocular lenses. In these areas she has published more than 125 technical papers in various journals and presented more than 170 papers in scientific conferences and congresses. She is the co-author of 7 book chapters, and co-inventor of 3 patents. She has advised seven PhD theses and has been the main researcher in twelve research projects.
She is member of the "Holography and Optical Processing Group" (GHPO), a consolidated research group at the University of Alicante.
She was the president of the Scientific Committee of the 6th Optics National Meeting (Alicante, 2006).
She was a member of the SPIE-International Working Group on Holography (1991-2005)
She is also a member of various Spanish and international scientific societies such as the Royal Spanish Society of Physics (RSEF), the Spanish Optical Society (SEDOPTICA), the European Optical Society (EOS), the Optical Society of America (OSA) and the International Society for Optics and Photonics (SPIE).
