Prof. Katarzyna Chalasinska-Macukow is a full professor at the Faculty of Physics, Div. of Information Optics, University of Warsaw. She earned her Ph.D. in Physics (optics) at the Faculty of Physics in 1979 and a habilitation in the same field in 1988. She was nominated professor in physics at the University of Warsaw in 1997.
Since 2005 she is Rector of University of Warsaw. Before her appointment as the Rector she was vice-Rector fo Finance and Personnel (2002-2005) and Dean of the Faculty of Physics (1996-2002). In 2008 she was elected as President of the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools of Poland (CRASP).
In years 1982-1983 she was asistant professor at the Laboratoire de Recherches an Optique et Lasers, Dept. de Physique, Universite Laval, Quebec, Canada. She made several stays as a senior researcher at the Laboratoire de Physique Generale et Optique, Universite Franche-Comte, Besancon, France (1991-1995) and as an invited professor at the Department od Optics, Autonomous University of Barcelona (1991-2003). In 2009 she was awarded an honorary doctorate for her research in the field of information processing and for her valuable collaboration by the UAB.
She was Vice-President of International Commission for Optics (1993-1999), member of OSA, EOS and Polish Physical Society.
