Profile Summary

Since the beginning with my diploma thesis I dedicated myself to the Astroparticle Physics, by joining the MAGIC collaboration (MAGIC stands for Major Atmospheric Gamma-ray Imaging telescope) with research fields both in the techlogical aspects of the telescope and in scientific aspects. MAGIC, operating since 2003 in the Canarian island La Palma, is currently the world largest Imaging Atmospheric Cherenkov Telescope (IACT). IACTs take advantage of the electromag- netic shower of particles initiated by very high energies cosmic gamma rays impinging onto the top atmosphere. For the MAGIC collaboration, I am currently convener of the Astroparticle and Fundamental Physics working group and actively involved in the scientific explotation of the data taken.
More recently, I joined also the Cherenkov Telescope Array (CTA) consortium. CTA is a worldwide effort for the construction of several tens of IACT telescopes to be operated simultaneously, compared to the current generation of installations which comprises 2-4 telescopes. CTA will be operated by a wide international community of scientists and will be based on a high-quality level of data dissemination, which is typical for the larger astronomical installations. For this project, I am currently deputy coordinator of the Mirror working group, I am deputy responsible for the construction of one or several LIDAR systems for atmospheric calibration and working for the Dark Matter and Fundamental Physics working group.
