Forests contribute a lot to carbon sequestration. We advocate to stop felling trees for a long time, because we think it’s the best decision for our environment. However, far from our expectations, simply forbid felling trees isn’t the best decision to environment as well as human society. Actually, making some harvestings is the best choice for carbon sequestration, human society and the environment. And we try to build up our models to prove that. The first model is the Pure Carbon Sequestration Model. When you input some relevant data, it can help you figure out how much carbon a forest can sequester during a specific period. What’s more, it can help forests’ managers make decisions on forest management. But it only concentrates on the carbon sequestration itself. Furthermore, we introduce the concept “Virtual Currency” into our Complex Forest Management Decision Model. We use this currency to evaluate the economic value as well as the ecological value of forests, with which we can strike a balance between economic benefits and ecological benefits in forest management. The second model is based on the first model, which works comprehensively on balancing between economic benefits and ecological benefits after optimization. It can also help you find the accurate geographic location that fits certain forest management plan.
