Shean-Jen Chen, Ph.D. received his B.S. degree from National Taiwan University in 1987 and his M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Columbia University in 1991. In December 1996, he was awarded his Ph.D. degree for research in adaptive noise cancellation and image restoration at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He entered Synchrotron Radiation Research Center of Taiwan in January 1998 where he became involved in the development of soft x-ray active gratings and microfocusing optical systems. He was an Assistant Professor at National Central University of Taiwan from August 2000 to July 2003, and a Distinguished Professor at NCKU from August 2012 to July 2016. From August 2018, he is a Professor and the Dean at College of Photonics, National Chiao Tung University, Taiwan. Currently, he is actively engaged in researching advanced nonlinear optical microscopy and three-dimensional photolithography.
